60-Minute Safe Fall Clinic

One bad fall can end the life you still want.

A free clinic for seniors — apply for yourself, or a family member applies with you. Learn how to fall and get up with less catastrophic damage. Bring a family spotter.

Who this is for

Seniors — and the family who trains with them.

Why you need it

Because one hard fall can take the keys, the stairs, and independence overnight. Hoping you won’t fall is not a plan. Safe Fall teaches what to do when gravity doesn’t ask permission — so you keep living the life you still want.

This is you if

  • Near-falls that scared you — curb, bathroom, uneven ground — close enough that your stomach dropped
  • Balance or confidence is already shrinking how you move through the day
  • A family member is worried about you (or you’re worried about a parent or grandparent) and wants skilled help, not guessing

Bring a family spotter (aged 10+). They train beside you for the full hour.

You’ve already had the “almost.”

The curb that catches your toe. The bathroom tile that almost wins. The second you stand up and the room doesn’t stay still — and for a beat, you’re genuinely scared.

That’s not clumsiness. That’s the warning shot before the fall that puts you in a hospital bed and takes the keys, the stairs, and the life you still expect to live.

Safe Fall is the hour you stop hoping — and learn what to do when gravity doesn’t ask permission.

What’s really at stake

A bad fall doesn’t just hurt. It reshapes a life — and a family.

Hospital. Rehab. Fear of leaving the house. Independence traded for caution. That’s what you’re here to push back against — before the phone call, not after.

What you’ll learn

Four skills you walk out with.

Concrete outcomes — not theory. You’ll practice each one on the mats with a coach and your spotter.

  1. 01

How to go down without panicking

Control the descent instead of freezing or bracing the wrong way when gravity takes over.

  2. 02

How to protect head, hips, and wrists on impact

Practical breakfall adaptations for real bodies — so one hard moment doesn’t become a catastrophic injury.

  3. 03

How to get up from the floor with support

Wall or chair assist is fine. Regain your footing without needing to be physically lifted by someone else.

  4. 04

How a family spotter actually helps

Guide momentum safely together — so neither of you is guessing under stress when it counts.

Why this matters

The skill isn’t “avoiding every fall.” It’s surviving the ones that happen.

Catastrophic injury ≠ having a fall

You can’t promise you’ll never fall. You can train so impact doesn’t end independence overnight.

Confidence to keep living your life

Fear of falling shrinks a world. Knowing what to do expands it again.

Family prepared — not helpless

Your spotter learns the same mechanics beside you, so help is skilled instead of panicked.

Practice before pavement

We bring out thick crash mats for the falling drills — so you learn the movement when the floor isn’t concrete.

The hour

What happens in 60 minutes

Progressive, coached, and joint-aware — you only move as far as your body and spotter allow.

  1. 0–10 min

    Warm-up & joint-safe prep

Get the body ready. Coaches set the pace for your joints.

  2. 10–25 min

    Floor progressions

Seated and kneeling work first — build control before bigger movement.

  3. 25–40 min

    Breakfall & impact drills

Practice going down and protecting head, hips, and wrists.

  4. 40–50 min

    Get-up practice

Stand again with wall or chair support — no being lifted.

  5. 50–60 min

    Spotter pairing

Lock in how your spotter guides momentum safely beside you.

You don’t train alone

Every participant brings a family spotter.

Each Safe Fall participant registers with a family member aged 10+ (son, daughter, grandchild, or another relative) as their dedicated physical spotter for the full hour.

The spotter guides drills, controls momentum, and learns the same mechanics beside you. Apply for yourself and bring your spotter — or a family member can apply with you. Either way, you’re on the mats together.

Why families trust this room

Built for real bodies. Run by people who know falling.

Created by

A Judo black belt coach with over 25 years of Judo experience, and a BJJ coach with over 15 years of personal training experience — adapting ukemi (breakfalls) to everyday life.

Crash mats

Thick crash mats brought out for Safe Fall drills — impact-absorbing surfaces so you can practice falling for real without pavement consequences.

After the clinic

Optional next step: the Skills Series.

This free hour stands on its own. When you’re ready for progressive weekly coaching, we also offer a separate 6-week Safe Fall Skills Series — building toward standing falls on regular mats, max 10 pairs, same coaches. Completely optional. No pressure at the clinic.

Questions

Before you apply

Is this fall prevention?
No. Safe Fall is not a “never fall” program. It’s skills for when a fall happens — impact management and getting up safely.
Who is this for?
Seniors — especially with near-falls or fading balance confidence — and the family who trains with them. You can apply for yourself, or a family member can apply with you. The participant is the senior; a family spotter (aged 10+) trains beside them.
Do I need to be athletic?
No. Progressions start on the floor, coaches adapt the pace, and your spotter is with you the whole hour — with crash mats brought out for the falling drills.
What if I have medical issues?
There’s a short screening form before you can book. Some conditions mean this group clinic isn’t the right fit — and we’ll tell you honestly.
Is there a continuation after the free clinic?
Yes — optionally. When you’re ready, coaches recommend a separate 6-week Safe Fall Skills Series — progressive weekly training for the senior; spotter comes for free. Details and course price are on the Skills Series page. The free clinic does not require or include that series.
What do we wear / bring?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. Bring your family spotter. Both of you sign the facility waiver before stepping on the mats.
